One of the most profound paradoxes in recovery is that we strengthen our own sobriety by helping others. When we reach out to those who are still struggling, when we share our experience and offer hope, we remind ourselves why we're here and what we have to lose.

Today's Reflection

Service is at the heart of the 12th Step: "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs." Service isn't just about formal sponsorship or speaking at meetings—it's about showing up, being present, and offering what we can to support others on this journey.

When we serve, we shift our focus from ourselves to others. We move beyond our own struggles and realize we have something valuable to offer. In helping someone else, we rediscover our own strength and purpose.

Today, look for opportunities to be of service. It doesn't have to be grand—sometimes the most meaningful service is simply listening, offering encouragement, or being there when someone needs support.

Today's Practice

Today, I will look for one way to be of service to someone in my recovery community. Whether it's a phone call, a kind word, or simply being present, I will give back what was so freely given to me.
