"Trust the process. Your time is coming. Just do the work and the results will handle themselves."
— Tony Gaskins
Learning to trust is one of the most challenging aspects of recovery. Many of us have been let down—by ourselves, by others, by promises that weren't kept. Addiction eroded our ability to trust anyone, including ourselves. But recovery asks us to rebuild that trust, starting with faith in the process.
Trust in recovery means believing that if we show up, do the work, and stay committed, things will get better. It means trusting that the program works, even when we can't see immediate results. It means having faith that we're exactly where we need to be, even when the path ahead is unclear.
Step Three invites us to turn our will and our lives over to the care of a Higher Power. This is an act of profound trust—releasing control and believing that something greater than ourselves is guiding us toward healing.
Today, practice trust. Trust that you're making progress, even when it doesn't feel like it. Trust that the work you're doing matters. Trust that better days are ahead.
Today, when doubt creeps in, I will remind myself: "I trust the process. I trust that I am where I need to be. I trust that my commitment to recovery will lead me to a better life."
